One in Eight American woman will be diagnosed with breast cancer.  This statistic is up from one in forty in the decade of the 1940s.   Our environment and our diet are changing rapidly, and some things are out of our control.  But the good news is that many things are under our control, and we can make positive changes now, whether young or old, with a breast cancer diagnosis or without one. Our guest Dr. Veronique Desaulniers has had a 30 year career in holisitic medicine, and in 2004 found her own breat lump, despite her healthy habits. Our guest today is Moon Cho, founder of Ying Yang Living, a website dedicated to teaching the principles of health and wellness through the Asian traditions.   I first found one of Moon's YouTube videos (on fermented foods) and was very impressed with the quality, and I was interested to learn more about Asain cooking.  It turned out Moon's website not only included cooking and nutrition, but also natural beauty tips, Feng Shui advice, exercise ideas, and lessons on spritual practice. I've been a practicing acupuncturist for 10 years, and it's great that Asian medicine has "arrived" in the U.S., but there is so much more available to us in the rich cultural traditions of Asia.  I'm excited to have Moon Cho on the show today to talk about her two foundations for health and happiness: spiritualty and nutrition.   Moon's website, youtube channel, twitter feed and facebook page.

Andrea Thorpe is a licensed acupuncturist and a certified specialist in Oriental Medicine for fertility.  In addtion to her private practice at the Lotus Center for Integrative Medicine in Los Angeles, she is pursuing a PhD in Oriental Medicine.   The topic of her doctoral research is thyroid disease, and she also treats many cases of thyroid-related infertlity.  We are happy to have Andrea as a guest today to talk all about the thyroid and it's treatment with Integrative and Oriental Medicine. Like all of us, I'm a work in progress.  But in the past 5 years, with the help of some great teachers, authors and, of course, life itself, I've learned a thing or two.
