My fellow Portlander Andrea Nakayama is a true force in women's health and nutrition.
With her own personal experience with Hashimoto's Disease, plus some powerful friends she has in the field of thyroid health, she create the Hashimoto's Institute, a free Hashimoto's educational event happening September 15 - 22, 2014.
She's also kicking off a very cool course called Girl's Guide to Hashimoto's on October 4, 2014.
Hashimoto's Thyroiditis is a complex autoimmune disease involving various body systems. A mis-diagnosis of your thyroid condition or an oversimplied pharmaceutical approach could leave you with debiliating, nagging symptoms.
Today Andrea Nakayama will give us a more in-depth look at the origins of this disease and ways we as women can overcome it, naturally.

According to the Cleveland Clinic Center for Continuing Education, nearly 5% of women in their reproductive years have Polycycstic Ovarian Syndrome.
The related signs and symptoms, such as menstrual irregularity, infertility, high blood sugar, acne and obesity, may not lead to an accurate diagnons of PCOS.
Today we'll interview a true expert in the field of women's health, fertility and PCOS, Dr. Fiona McCulloch, ND of the White Lotuc Clinic in Toronto, Ontario.
Here's what I'm excited to ask Dr. Fiona:
How is PCOS defined?
Who gets PCOS and why?
What are the implications and symptoms of PCOS?
How can PCOS effect our fertility?
How can we get tested for PCOS?
What are our natural treatment options for PCOS?
What are some PCOS success stories you can share?
If you are curious about the common disease in women, please join us for this call! Live questions can be taken by calling in at the above number.

It's just you and me on this episode, as I reflect on what I've learned about living in flow and in thanks, on the eve of my 40th birthday!
Like all of us, I'm a work in progress. But in the past 5 years, with the help of some great teachers, authors and, of course, life itself, I've learned a thing or two.
Today I'll discuss:
How to find gratitude and self-love
How to find reflection and integration
How to see the gift in the drama
How to choose ease over frustration and force
How to communicate your needs with grace
As I turn 40, I am finally getting wise enough to know that the inner gifts and the simple pleasures are the greatest things to 'own.' And that as I embrace this more and more, my outer world feels much more rewarding.
These tools can help you with your career, your health, your relationships, and just plain enjoying life a whole lot more. Please join me on this special birthday podcast!
